Our new friends in the ward that we hung out with on Sunday, the Walker's, told us about this sushi place that has great deals so Tuesday we took the opportunity to get some yummy and affordable sushi.  Paul was a good sport.  He didn't like the sushi but he got their teriyaki chicken and it was super good. Friday Paul started learning about molecular cloning and he is really interested in it.  He's been doing the same sort of stuff and finally gets to learn this new technique. Saturday Paul didn't have to go into lab at all so we went to Buc-ee's for the day and had a great time.  I came home to water my plants and noticed that my hibiscus has three flower buds!  The patio is pretty shaded but I hope it's getting enough sun for these buds to fully bloom. Sunday was Mother's Day.  I got to play the piano for the primary number and it went surprisingly well since I never had the opportunity to practice with the kids.  They sang so loud too!  It was really c

Congrats to Ben on his mission call to Paris, France that he got on Tuesday.  We are very excited for him! Ben sent me a picture of the chocolate chip cookies he made for his friends coming over to hear him announce his call.  I put it up on Instagram with the recipe and I had several people reach out to me to tell me they were excited about the cookie recipe.  I haven't really had that much excitement before so I got excited and got a phone mount from Walmart and made a video of how to make the cookies and posted it.  I got a lot of good reception, so I will probably do a lot more videos instead of just posting pictures, which adds a new element and is really fun.  Since the wards combined I've met a few new people in the ward and Sunday night we hung out with a couple in the ward that have a 10 month old.  They are really sweet and fun and we're glad we're finally able to start making connections in the ward.  I also got a calling today, I am the primary pianist! Thursday was an eventful day in that Emily, Paul's sister, invited me to join her and Wendy in finding her prom dress virtually.  She found a really beautiful dress and it was so fun to do that with them even though I'm far away.  James also got back to Africa safely, thank goodness!  And a happy birthday to Whitney! Friday I got a raise!  I'm super happy about it too because we had a girl quit and even before then I was taking more and more work, so now I feel better that I'm being comp

Big news!  Paul started with Dr. Nam!  It is the beginning of the rest of the PhD.  Because of this, this week was all business and there wasn't much else to report. Happy 18th birthday to Ben on Sunday!
