October 11-17, 2021
Thursday there was a Relief Society activity. We had soup together then we went to the cultural hall and painted mason jars. I painted mine black and the shape of the window is of a ghost. They had really cute ribbons, so I used a Halloween-looking one and a purple one to add color. It was super fun and I had a great time socializing with women my age in the ward. Kathy is from Canada and just had a baby, Brooklynn was there that I talked about in my last paragraph, she is my ministering companion. Kimmy was there too. Paul and I went to a baseball game with her and her husband back in May. She is having a baby girl in January as well.
Friday Paul and I went to dinner with Brooklynn and her husband, Eli. It was super fun to meet them and spend dinner with them. Eli told us about how he competes in sailing and Brooklynn told us about her experience competing on the Harvard Rugby team and how they won the NCAA championship her senior year. Then Paul and Eli talked a lot about financial stuff and Brooklynn and I talked about our missions and families.
Saturday I mostly cleaned while Paul studied for his final that is on Monday and worked on his grant application. He went into lab for a couple of hours and while he was gone I FaceTimed mom about my baby registry. I was so confused about what was good to keep and what was a good brand, it was nice to get her guidance and help me feel calm about what we would need. She showed me the cute towel she just finished that has a little hood and Mary Alice embroidered on it. She also showed me the llama blanket she just finished and one she is working on. Everything is so cute! I was especially envious of the delicious cookies Eliza was making while mom was on the phone with me.
Sunday Brooklynn and I formally introduced ourselves to our ministering sisters. We minister to Kimmy, who we both already met but it was good to have a little meeting. Kimmy said she is moving to a new apartment this next week and they need help moving furniture, so that is what we will be doing next weekend. We also met Kristen, who is a mom of four. She is super cute and outgoing, it was nice to meet her and get to know another face in the ward. We did a run-through of the primary program and it went really well until the last song, I got totally off from the singing because they were going too fast for me to keep up. We had to start that one over and play it slower. I'm grateful we have another week to practice before the real thing. All afternoon Paul and I worked on finishing his grant application that is due at midnight.
Overall, we had a good week.
