This week was crazy.  Monday - Thursday work was cancelled and so were classes and lab.  Monday we had 30 minutes of power during the middle of the day and 15 minutes of power at 8 pm. We had no hot water but we did have cold water.  There was no heat so we huddled under a mound of blankets trying to keep warm all day.  It snowed 6 inches.  Not only is it rare to snow at all in Dallas but it never snows like this.  People who have lived here their whole lives have never seen this kind of weather.

Tuesday we had about 2 hours of power spread throughout the day.  We walked to Target to get our blood moving and just for something to do. We also went to the only place open within walking distance, Pizza Hut, to get a hot meal.  The streets were still icy and very snowy and we live on a major road.  Nothing had been done to clear them.  Wednesday we got more snow and stayed inside.  We had power most of the day with a couple of outages.

Thursday we still did not have hot water so we went to Planet Fitness to shower.  Friday I was able to go to work.  I have a weeks worth of work organized on my desk waiting for me to take care of it Monday. We left early because it was supposed to get below freezing again that evening.  Paul was home all day and had to deal with them cutting off all water too.  He had to melt snow to flush our toilet.  He also gave his exit presentation to the lab he has been rotating in and did a great job, especially since he had to do it from home instead of in person.

Saturday, we still didn't have any water and I called the office to get an ETA for when the water was going to get turned back on.  She told me several pipes broke throughout the property and wouldn't likely be fixed until Monday or Tuesday next week.  That put us in a predicament because it was getting into the 40s and the water wasn't on and there was soon to be no snow to force our plumbing to work.  We decided to pack up and stay in a hotel for a couple of nights.  Paul has been able to study for his exams for this next week and get ready for a new rotation.

Sunday it got into the 70s, which is just crazy.  We went from 4 degrees to 72 degrees in less than a week. The snow is totally gone.

We hope everyone is warm and safe.  We are counting our blessings more gratefully this week.
