February 8 - 14, 2021

This week was okay.  Paul worked 12 hour days all week this week so he could take Saturday off and spend the day with me for my birthday.  Thank you for all the birthday cards, gifts, and well wishes I received.  We went to breakfast then to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.  We went to dinner then relaxed at home.

On Sunday, church was cancelled due to the storm warning.  We made waffles with the heart shaped waffle iron Wendy sent me for my birthday.  Paul led the discussion for the Christensen zoom on Sunday night. We talked about Elder Packer's talk "The Mediator" and Paul taught about our individual need for the atonement.

This week I studied about the Aaronic Priesthood and read a couple of talks about it. The Aaronic priesthood was established as a preparatory priesthood that was given to Aaron, Moses brother, who was of the tribe of Levi. Brethren who hold the Aaronic Priesthood can bless and pass the sacrament, collect fast offerings, administer the sacrament to those who can't attend church. I like Elder Perry's talk when he talked about teaching his grandson about the biblical story of Daniel and what we can learn from him. 1. We need to keep our bodies healthy and clean. 2. We need to develop our minds and become wise. 3. We need to be strong and resist temptation. 4. We need to trust in the Lord, especially when you need his protection.  As we live these principles, we prepare ourselves to feel the influence of the Spirit and serve the way the Lord needs us to.  Paul also suggested a talk by Elder Oaks that clearly teaches about Priesthood keys.  He plainly teaches that even though men hold the priesthood they cannot administer without the proper permission and stewardship organized through keys. Bishops have stewardship over their wards, stake presidents over their stakes, and the prophet over the church. Individuals have stewardship over their families.  When I say over, I mean to say that they have the opportunity and responsibility to serve and care for the spiritual wellbeing of their stewardship.

Hope you all are doing well. Love you!

I know you all are probably worried about us due to the polar vortex that is hitting Dallas pretty hard.  We get about 2 hours of power a day and luckily have enough food and are able to stay warm.  I haven't been to work all week and am not sure if I'll go in at all. Same for Paul. He has not been down to the school all week and it is not likely to this week. We got 6 inches of snow on Monday and are getting 4 more inches tomorrow. There are no plows and no one has salted.
