June 14-20

 Monday started with me getting my second hair appt.  They finished the back of my head with highlights and bleached the two front pieces again to get rid of the yellow.  It is still a little yellow, which I am disappointed in but I guess I will just live with it.

Tuesday we got very exciting news! Paul was personally chosen by his PI to collaborate with a distinguished researcher at the Max Plank Institute in Germany on RNA research.  He is being recognized for his hard work and long hours in lab and is being trusted with this huge opportunity! We are so excited!  We celebrated by going to Chik-fil-a for peach shakes.
Friday I got home early and was able to finish packing and getting ready for our trip to Utah for the weekend.  Paul got home and we grabbed dinner then went straight to the airport.  We watched some NBA games while we were waiting for the plane to board and we were on our way!

Our flight got in to Salt Lake at 12:30 AM. Mike picked us up and we hung out for a little bit before heading to bed.  We went to bed at 2AM but the dog and cats made it a little difficult to sleep.  Paul was the one to deal with the animals and try to get them to be quiet, so he ended up getting about 2 hours of sleep.  I got closer to 4.  
We got up about 6/6:30 and got ready for the wedding.  We left about 7:30 and enjoyed the beautiful drive up to Logan.  Mike was able to get us there by the designated 8:45.  We then found out we didn't need to be there until 9:45, so we went to Waffle Iron for breakfast then went back to the temple.  The ceremony was beautiful and we are so happy for Adam and Sonora.  
After the sealing we took some pictures then headed to Adam and Sonora's home for a luncheon.  We were able to sit together and talk and before we left there was a heartwarming rendition of Bye Bye Lil' Sebastian, led by our very own Paul.  Afterwards we split up into cars and most everyone went home for a little rest before the reception.  Emily and Rachel came with Paul and I for a little drive around Logan.  We got some lemonades, drove around campus and then headed back to Mike and Wendy's home.  Paul was feeling pretty drowsy by this point, so we played some loud rock and roll music to keep him awake for the last part of the drive.  
As soon as we were able to freshen up for the reception, we headed up to Heber.  Grandma K and Andy drove with us this time.  The reception was really nice and the Phillipino food was very delicious.  We got to see Sonora's family's horses and goats.
After the reception we hit up Red Iguana because Paul has really been missing good Utah Mexican food.  It was very good. 

We were all very tired and Wendy decided to read us all bedtime stories.  I was really interested in the one with the Hippos, it even made me cry! haha 
We got a few more hours of sleep Saturday night, which was nice.  Paul and I got up a little before everyone so we went to get donuts from Banbury Cross for Father's Day.  Then, when everyone was awake, we gave Mike his Father's Day card that announced to the family that we are expecting a baby in January.  We are very excited and could hardly wait to share the news.
Mike and Wendy then drove us to the airport and we headed home to Dallas.  It was brief but it was so lovely to see everyone and celebrate Adam and Sonora.  We love you all very much!

Congrats to Ben on his mission call to Paris, France that he got on Tuesday.  We are very excited for him! Ben sent me a picture of the chocolate chip cookies he made for his friends coming over to hear him announce his call.  I put it up on Instagram with the recipe and I had several people reach out to me to tell me they were excited about the cookie recipe.  I haven't really had that much excitement before so I got excited and got a phone mount from Walmart and made a video of how to make the cookies and posted it.  I got a lot of good reception, so I will probably do a lot more videos instead of just posting pictures, which adds a new element and is really fun.  Since the wards combined I've met a few new people in the ward and Sunday night we hung out with a couple in the ward that have a 10 month old.  They are really sweet and fun and we're glad we're finally able to start making connections in the ward.  I also got a calling today, I ...

November 22-28, 2021

 Monday was my replacements first day.  We filed a PCT application.  I made tacos for dinner.  Tuesday I went in to work and had a lot to do, so I was setting up my replacement, Kaylee, with another PCT application, since she had done one yesterday.  I guess I overwhelmed her because she started crying.  I told her that she didn't have to work on the PCT if it was too much.  She ended up just shadowing me until 3 PM.  Then I passed her off to one of my coworkers to learn how to send letters to clients so I could get going on a report Scott needed done.  Paul worked until 9 PM, so I just made myself a grilled cheese and some tomato soup for dinner.  Dr. Nam was going to throw a Christmas party this year but somebody sniched and the department told her she couldn't do that.  That made Paul and me sad.  Wednesday I got to work a little early because we got our carpets cleaned.  Kaylee worked with my other coworker, Robert, al...

March 8-14, 2021

We did well with our goals this week and were productive at work and school.  We had a lazy weekend.  We attended Stake Conference through zoom and our favorite talks were the recent converts who spoke during the Saturday General Session.  Their stories were heartfelt and their testimonies communicated the Spirit powerfully.  The first speaker was especially good.  He was a young man from France and his father was Muslim and his mother was catholic but he did not grow up going to church.  They moved to the U.S. when he was a teenager and he moved to Texas as an adult.  His parents got a divorce and that made him want a change in his life.  His cousin also lived in Dallas and is a member of our church and he invited him to come to church with him.  The recent convert suddenly experienced serious health issues and had to stay home a lot.  He read the Book of Mormon and received many priesthood blessings for his health.  He w...
